Hazardous Materials Packaging

Reverse logistics is defined as any action that is related to a commodity and the eventual aim that crafts a resourceful aftermarket action that helps to economize funds and other ecological income. It is a method which instigates when a commodity loses value supply chain. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has brought out the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to come up with solutions in order to lessen the distribution of commodities that contains unsafe supplies within the reverse logistics distribution chain.

When packaging of hazardous materials is done the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration corrects it through the reverse logistics where the materials are taken back to the company with an aim of having back the replacement as affirmed by Noll et al (2012). Though being compensated is important but the company also benefits due to the recycling of the damaged commodity and taking it back to the market rather than being disposed of by the buyer. Therefore reverse logistics correct everything despite sometimes it gets the company a loss since if the commodity cannot be recycled then the only option that remains is the disposal of the product.

This remains the reason for Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration recommends recognizing the hazardous material packaging being related to reverse logistics distribution (Paine and Paine; 2012). The fact that workers at the company that are in charge of stuffing the commodities are not trained on the hazardous materials gives rise into the scarce packaging. Therefore the reverse logistics becomes more important in avoiding waste through recycling of the damaged commodities during packaging. It also saves the companies from making unnecessary losses due to the same damages.
