Before you can even begin a risk assessment, a good inventory of your assets is essential.
This is called Asset Identification and Valuation. There are many ways to document this information. For our purposes you should use a an excel spreadsheet and document all the information system assets. (Remember the components of an information system)
Consider this scenario
You have been hired at the ABC Company, a small business in the local area. You are being asked to do cyber security risk assessment.
There are 5 employees (the owner, two sales persons person A and Person B, one IT support person Person C who also does office work, and one general office worker Person D)
The sales force uses tablet computers when in the field and have desktops they use when in the office. These desktop systems are approximately 5 years old. They use Version 1.5 CRM software to manage their sales leads. The latest version is Version 5.
You will conduct a risk identification on this small business based on this information. You are tasked with providing a complete risk assessment for ABC.
Your deliverable for THIS assignment is a completed inventory document ONLY.
You may want to ask your clients questions, so be prepared to discuss questions you might need to ask to complement this information. We will discuss in class or online (weather permitting)
