This is a discussion forum that is mandatory part of this course. The idea is to create collaboration amongst your cohort and stimulate intellectual conversations. The instructions are as follows.
1. Your initial post MUST be at least 250 words and cited scholarly references
2. You must respond at least two (2) times in a week to your colleagues post. Your follow-up (Second & Third) must be at least (150 words and contain at least two scholarly references that are different from your initial (250 word) post.
Question: 1
Over the past twenty years technology has moved us into a place where information flows fast and freely. The internet in where we get our information and email is the new method in which we receive private and personal information that once was delivered by the postal services. With this being the case, privacy laws that didn't exist a decade ago have been implemented and now infringe U.S. citizens in ways once never imaginable. The question the i propose, is whether the freedom of speech should extend to communications made via the internet? While the Constitution does not address the internet do to its advent decades later, should the 1st Amendment freedom of speech extend to internet communications?

Question 2.
Some commentators have raised questions about the quality of legal representation provided to the poor. They also have suggested that racial minorities, who are more likely than whites to be poor, are particularly disadvantaged. Is this necessarily the case? Are racial minorities represented by public defenders or assigned counsel treated more harshly than those represented by private attorneys? If you were an African-American, Hispanic, or Native American defendant and could choose whether to be represented by a public defender or a private attorney, which would you choose? Why?
