Assignment task:
Purpose: Active learning activities are your opportunity to practice and apply the concepts discussed in your reading to class discussions. These action assignments will help you deepen your learning and help you become active, reflective, responsible, and successful learners.
Activity Overview: The purpose of this active learning activity is to engage in an activity/choice that has proven to increase happiness. The hope is that through increasing our happiness we will also reduce stress. For this activity you will need to complete one of the activities provided at the end of this week's stress lifestyle and health and show proof.
Active Learning Activities:
Step 1: As mentioned in the presentation, the instructions are "to complete one of the following activities for 15 minutes (this may seem like a long time, but set a timer and try your best). After you complete your 15 minutes, share with your classmates what you did during the 15 minutes through this week's group discussion (see step 2)."
Activity #2 - Gratitude - Gratitude is a felt sense of wonder, thankfulness and appreciation for life. In this activity, you will express gratitude through making a gratitude list. See how many things you can write down that you are grateful for and appreciate. Try your best to fill a page. For example, I'm alive, I have food to eat, I'm grateful to be outside! Goal is to write as many things as you can. Write neatly just in case you want to post this somewhere in your room as a reminder.
Step 2: share your experience engaging in this activity. 1) Share what you did for 15 minutes. Please share which activity you completed and what you did. 2) Share if this helped increase your happiness. 3) Share how this activity related to a key concept, idea or fact that you learned about in the reading this week and lastly 4) Share with your future self one way you will reduce stress and increase your happiness after this class.
Step 3: Attach a photo with you engaging in this activity and/or an item that you used as you engaged in the activity. you can just send an image of anything that you used.
