My decision to pursue graduate study in psychology comes from both my academic experience and my professional experience working in leadership roles while completing my degree. Through years of managing teams, coaching employees, and interacting with customers in high-pressure environments, I became increasingly interested in human behavior, motivation, communication, and the psychological factors that influence decision-making and performance.
I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Media and Technology at the University of Phoenix. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I developed a strong interest in areas such as social psychology, learning and cognition, personality theory, and the influence of media and technology on behavior. Courses such as Research Methods, Statistical Reasoning in Psychology, Social Psychology, and Digital Learning strengthened both my analytical skills and my understanding of psychological principles in real-world settings.
Balancing full-time employment while pursuing my degree required discipline, adaptability, and perseverance. Working in leadership within the telecommunications industry allowed me to apply psychological concepts daily through employee development, conflict resolution, communication strategies, and customer engagement. These experiences reinforced my desire to continue my education and deepen my understanding of psychology beyond the undergraduate level.
I am particularly interested in studying the relationship between human behavior, communication, technology, and performance. As technology and digital interaction continue to shape society, I believe psychology plays an important role in understanding how people learn, connect, make decisions, and respond to rapidly changing environments. I hope to further develop my research, analytical, and professional skills through graduate study while contributing meaningful insight through both academic work and practical experience.
I am pursuing the Master of Arts in Psychology program at Southeastern Louisiana University because of its strong academic foundation, emphasis on research and professional development, and commitment to preparing students for advanced opportunities in psychology-related fields. I believe the program will provide the environment and mentorship necessary for me to grow both academically and professionally.
My long-term goal is to continue building a career centered around leadership, behavioral understanding, communication, and human development while expanding my opportunities within psychology-related fields.
