Task description:
To complete this assignment you must have attended the event you nominated and discussed in Assignment 2 (you must choose an event that you can attend during session 3).
Chosen Event - New Year Eve Fireworks in Sydney
Identify and critically analyze the positive and negative impacts of the event utilizing the principles of sustainability and the triple bottom line approach. (Refer to the academic literature on these concepts). A reference list should be provided for any academic literature cited. Visual evidence such as photos or video is encouraged when discussing the event impacts.
Provide recommendations for future activities which clearly identify issues relevant to event management.
You should use creativity in the approach taken to presenting the information about your event.
There are various options for presenting this assignment. You can choose to do ONE of the following formats:
- A 2000 word report inclusive of photos
- A 5-6 minute video
- A 15 slide audio narrated PowerPoint presentation
- A photo essay supported by 1000 words
- A blog
Please note: This is an independent, self-directed assessment task and therefore students will be responsible for attending, negotiating any permissions if appropriate, their own transportation and any expenses incurred attending the event. The process for submission of this assessment will depend upon the format chosen and prior negotiation with the tutor is required.
