Problem: One thing that really stuck out to me when watching the racial profiling video is the stop and frisk. In 2011 this was when the program was at its highest and there were 350,743 black people that this happened too. They were almost six times more likely to be stopped and frisked than white people, also Latinx were 223,740. Although in La the population is dominantly black, but that shouldn't mean that just because of this there are more stopped than white people or any other race. There is also a program called the Laser program and it is very hard for me to agree with it. Basically, what happens is depending on how much you are dealing with the police department this is how you get points. The more you are dealing with the police the more likely you are going to be targeted and there is a way to get off the system by not dealing with the police. Another thing that was very interesting to me was the new software that took over laser and it is called the Ring camera. They started using this app back in May of 2019. There is an app called Neighbors and it allows people view real crime in actual time, but they have to be both of these, meaning the ring camera and the app. I think both of these things that the police force has come in touch with is very useful for the police departments and more need to look into it.
