Assignment Task: Select a person who you most admire and who has had a positive influence in your life. Your hero can be a relative, coach, teacher, etc.
Following the three elements of a speech discussed in class (i.e. The Introduction, Body and Conclusion), make a speech about your hero.
- In the Introduction, remember to have an attention getter (i.e. A quote, a personal story, an interesting fact/statistic, a question) and preview the points you will be making in your speech about your hero.
- In the Body, expand on the details of each of the points you mentioned in your introduction. Concentrate on the characteristics/personal qualities of your hero rather than the length of your speech.
- In the conclusion, be sure to recap/summarize all the points you made and have a "clincher statement/take away message." In other words, what is the primary message you want your audience to remember.
