Problem: The patient is a 16-year-old male with renal failure and failed left kidney transplant. The patient was admitted for his second kidney transplant. Prior to surgery, the patient underwent hemodialysis, through the existing AV fistula. The transplant was accomplished within 48 hours of the harvesting of the donor organ. Tissue samples confirmed adequate donor match. The previously transplanted, now failing, kidney was first removed, then the new kidney was placed. Our postoperative dialysis session was required before the transplanted kidney was functioning adequately. Postoperatively, the patient was watched carefully for signs of rejection. Patient's postoperative course was relatively uneventful. The patient was discharged, to be followed weekly in the office. Need Assignment Help?
