Chapter: Response Paper Instructions
There are many issues inherent in the supervision of offenders with special needs. Your response paper will focus on sex offenders. In your paper, please discuss laws dealing with mandatory treatment for sex offenders: chemical castration, sex offender registration laws, public notification of sex offenders, and residency restriction in neighborhoods, to name a few.
Also describe specific strategies and best practices that are generally effective when working with sex offenders in the community. Please consider how technologies are used to track offenders, treat offenders, and used to attempt to curtail activities of sex offenders. As a counter perspective, briefly discuss how many sex offenders are tech savvy and use technology to lure victims into sexual activities against their will. Finally, discuss the many challenges Probation Officer's face concerning the supervision of sex offenders.
