Assignment Instructions:
Review the following case study and answer the questions for the scenario by creating a written report to the president of the company. The Case Study is located in at the end of Chapter 3 pp. 62-62 (MHIP).
Students assume the role of Jennifer in the case study and need to prepare a quarterly report to the president of the company. The report can be a memo, or all of the report components can be included. Write at least one paragraph to address each component.
Chapter 3 Leadership Concepts in Health Information Management addresses the trends that HIM professionals must keep abreast of in management practice. It is not enough to understand changes to coding guidelines or privacy matters; an HIM manager must be aware of concepts in the business world and their potential impact on healthcare in general and HIM specifically. Leadership concepts discussed in this chapter are diversity in the workplace, the increasing use of teams in healthcare, and the importance of motivation and morale in the work place. Motivation theories are presented to lay the groundwork for a discussion on motivation.
