Discuss how you would go about assessing the science concept

Homework

Length: 5 to 7 pages.

Alignment between instruction and assessment is very important. As is the alignment of instructional objectives, goals, and learning outcomes-as you should be all too familiar with based on your own teaching experiences or as a result of your program of study. You will explore some best practices for the alignment of instruction and assessment.

This homework is similar in that we are continuing to focus on literacy, math, and science in early childhood education. However, this homework is focused on the assessment of literacy, math, and science in ECE.

You can choose to focus on preschool or kindergarten, but you must pick only one age group; whichever one you select, you must use for literacy, math, and science assessment.

Required sections of your paper include the following:

Introduction: You should write an effective introduction to your paper. Be sure to introduce the topic of assessment in relation to the age group you selected. Be sure to cite the supporting literature. Then state the purpose of the paper, and detail about what is going to be discussed in the paper. Note: this should not exceed a-half page.

Main Subject Level 1 Headings: These are the headings that are centered in the template and will guide each main subject domain in the paper (i.e., literacy assessment, math assessment, and science assessment).

Under each of these main headings, you will discuss what assessment is for each of the subject domains (i.e., literacy, math, and science). Information that might be expected here is some of the following-but these are suggestions, and this might vary from student to student.

1. How does it relate to your age group (preschool or Kindergarten)?

• What are you assessing in this subject domain in this age group?
• Why are you assessing it in this subject domain in this age group?
• How are you assessing it in this subject domain in this age group?
• What do you use the assessments for in this subject domain in this age group?
• What are the trends that you see in this subject domain in this age group?

Level 2 Headings: For each of the main topics of literacy, math, and science, you will see four Level 2 headings that include the following:

1. Challenges in Literacy Assessment-Age group-specific challenges in assessment applied to literacy.

2. Literacy Activity-Briefly (in one paragraph) describe the DAP literacy activity. You need to make sure that you include the concept that you will assess informally and formally. The concept, informal assessment, and formal assessment must all be DAP and align. This means that the activity has to include the concept you are going to assess, and the concept you will assess must be the same for the informal and formal assessment.

3. Informal Literacy Assessment-Discuss how you would go about assessing the literacy concept using informal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

4. Formal Literacy Assessment-Discuss how you would go about assessing the literacy concept using formal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

5. Challenges in Math Assessment-Age group-specific challenges in assessment applied to math.

6. Math Activity-Briefly (in one paragraph) describe the DAP math activity. You need to make sure that you include the concept that you will assess informally and formally. The concept, informal assessment, and formal assessment must all be DAP and align. This means that the activity has to include the concept you are going to assess, and the concept you will assess must be the same for the informal and formal assessment.

7. Informal Math Assessment- Discuss how you would go about assessing the math concept using informal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

8. Formal Math Assessment- Discuss how you would go about assessing the math concept using formal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

9. Challenges in Science Assessment-Age group-specific challenges in assessment applied to science.

10. Science Activity-Briefly (in one paragraph) describe the DAP science activity. You need to make sure that you include the concept that you will assess informally and formally. The concept, informal assessment, and formal assessment must all be DAP and align. This means that the activity has to include the concept you are going to assess, and the concept you will assess must be the same for the informal and formal assessment.

11. Informal Science Assessment- Discuss how you would go about assessing the science concept using informal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

12. Formal Science Assessment- Discuss how you would go about assessing the science concept using formal assessment practices and resources (you can include the environment or culture into your discussion). You should explore the Internet and professional resources.

13. Conclusion-Write an effective conclusion to close the frame of the homework. Include one big idea from the body of your paper related to the topic of preschool or kindergarten assessment and make sure to cite the literature to support the big idea. Getting more in-depth about why you care about the big idea, discuss at least three implications (one for teaching, one for learning, and one for development) of the big idea (implications is a fancy word for why should others should care). For each of the implications, you mention be sure to cite the scholarly literature for support and justification.

Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:

1. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
