Problem
A large company that manufacturers frozen peas as well as many other products makes two sets of forecasts of the price of fresh peas, one set by statisticians in the Head Office and the other by market researchers in a subsidiary company's offices. There is need for a company forecast, so each quarter the two groups of forecasters meet, discuss their differences, and try to reach a compromise figure. These discussions are often acrimonious. Discuss how you might try to sell the idea of producing combinations of forecasts to the head statistician of the company.
