Activity Description
The topics covered throughout the course will provide a starting point for further research. The final paper must be supported by a solid foundation in labor relations concepts taken from the textbook as well as outside research. The research should be focused on current articles and publications regarding labor relations.
Create a comprehensive paper detailing at least five major challenges and future trends in labor relations in America and the globalized society. Analyze factors which will most influence unionization in the United States and globally.
Concepts must include the following:
1. Historical information regarding unions that may carry from now into the future.
2. How unionization affects individual employees, management, and companies in general.
3. Interests the union itself may try to maintain, despite organizational needs or goals.
4. The role of federal regulation and governmental entities.
5. Local versus national unions and how these groups may affect future and global unionization.
6. Variances of for-profit and not-for-profit unionization.
7. The influence on employee wage and non-wage considerations in varying environments.
8. The impact of wellness initiatives and employee safety and risk management.
9. Challenges multi-national companies must prepare for in order to successfully compete in a future global business setting.
