Discussion Post: Capstone Change Project Evaluation & Dissemination
Professional nursing journals are important to the profession of nursing because they are designed to focus on evidence based information and research (nursingschool.org, 2019). According to nursing school.org, these journals offer a forum for presenting, communicating and even criticizing about nursing issues that is timely. Moreover, nursing journals include general publications that are of interest to nursing students, and all those working in the nursing field.Nursing and health care conferences offer an excellent opportunity for nurses to and healthcare professions to present their research findings.It is a great way to get your information out to a large amount of people in a short amount of time. Depending on what conference you choose, the number of persons attending can range for as few as 100 to up to several thousands (Schneider, 2015).
A nursing journal that I feel would be good choice for me to present my project is The American Journalof Nursing. This journal holds the distinction of being the oldest running nursing journal in the world (nursebuff.com.2018).I picked this journal because it reaches a vast amount of people, and they have a year of history in providing evidencebased clinical information in a timely manner. The American Journal of Nursing, in addition to the distinction of being the oldest nursing journal can be read in print, for those who still prefer to read that way, on the web AJNonline.com or iPad app. An upcoming conference, in April 2020 that I feel would be a wonderful opportunity for me to disseminate my project findings would be at the 16th Annual Clinical Nursing Research Conference in Mayfield Village, Ohio. I feel this would be a good platform for any Nurse/ researcher to share their research findings.
The conference objectives are as follows:
• Facilitate research collaboration as well as partnerships among clinicians at a variety of organizations (both academic and clinical).
• Improve your knowledge of methodologies and dissemination issues specific to conducting clinical research. Share the results of clinical research and foster a research culture that leads to additional research and the implementation of new and innovative interventions
• Discuss how to engage clinical nurses in clinical research by providing sufficient resources and building a culture that encourages research to realize the research. The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for disseminating knowledge from nursing research. The conference also offers beginner to intermediate workshops to deepen participants' knowledge of research methods (myclevelandclinic.org, 2019).
This is an actual upcoming conference focused on research, sharing my skills and knowledge not only to disseminate the results of research projects, but also to learn and improve the results of other research, not just nursing research. I think it will provide a great forum for you to do. The conference features presentations by and for academic and clinical participants, along with time for networking.
Dissemination of EBP and research, such as presenting results at a conference or writing an article for a journal, is an important part of professional practice. Identify one professional journal and one nursing or health care conference where you might present your project. Discuss why each of your choices is the best option for you to disseminate your new knowledge.
