Students will pick topics from "Healthy People 2020". These topics should be objectives in the "Healthy People 2020" for which goals have not yet been met. Students should next identify another country that also conducts surveillance on a comparable health outcome. The paper should (1) provide a brief summary of the etiology, mechanistic pathway, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the disease, (2) summarize the epidemiology of the disease in each country, (3) describe similarities and differences in the surveillance system in each country, and (4) discuss how these surveillance systems impact each country's prevention and intervention strategies for the disease, for instance through stakeholder engagement, legal authority, timeliness, public visibility, or other factors.
