We discussed both the liberal ideas of the Constitution of 1812 and how rural Totonac and Huastec insurgents interpreted these ideas to put forth their vision for the nation and participate in national politics. We'll compare these experiences with those of the Maya communities that are Caplan's focus.
Task: In your post discuss how the rural Maya communities (the subjects of Caplan's chapters) drew on and modified practices of liberalism.
