Discuss how report writing impacts the success of a police officer. In a survey of Ohio Police Chiefs, over 90% of the participants agreed that writing skills affected the prosecution of cases, impacted the supervisor's perception of them as a law enforcement officer, influenced the decision to appoint officers for special assignments, and impacted their promotion within the department.
Do you agree with the survey, why or why not? In what other ways could bad report writing affect an officer's success?
