The Paradox of Structure in Science:
After reading the article by Alan Lightman (“Spellbound by the Eternal Riddle, Scientists Revel in Their Captivity”), discuss how it illustrates the Paradox of Structure, both for the particular scientists mentioned in the article and for scientists in general. In discussing these points, don’t limit yourselves to Lightman’s use of the term “paradox” (although his examples may be relevant and deserve mention); use Adaption-Innovation theory to dig deeper and tease out additional insights as well.
