Changing Political Alliances and Perspectives -- Questions (floating post)
Both the Republican and Democratic parties experienced significant changes in 1970s, 80s, and 90s. These changes are discussed in the course e-textbook and the assigned videos. I would like us to talk about this in greater detail in a floating post response thread.
Begin by describe the changes in each party and discuss how they shaped contemporary American society, especially as these changes pertain to the meaning, social conditions, and boundaries of freedom. Cite specific developments.
Finally, it would be good to talk about how the shifting nature of the two parties in the 70s, 80s, and 90s continues to influence contemporary political debates about freedom.
