Texas' state bureaucracy has grown significantly in recent decades in spite of our state's reputation for being a low tax/low services state. Some agencies are led by elected leaders, but others have leaders chosen by the governor or other officials in the state. Discuss how and why the bureaucracy has grown in size and power in Texas. How does this impact the notion that Texans should be able to choose those who govern us at the ballot box?
