Discuss historical and methodological problems encountered in studying the Hebrew Bible. What can be said about the historicity of the Patriarchs, Exodus, and Joshua? What does archaeology tell us about the historicity of these figures and events? How do archaeology and text contradict and/or support each other? the representation of the ancient Israelite past (i.e., myths of origins, legends, propaganda, etc.).
