Discuss-fonder freedom is not simply being free

Problem: Read and respond to the discussion post below.

According to Fonder freedom is not simply being free or having your own autonomy but that "freedom embodies not a single idea but a complex of values" (Fonder, pg. 3). He explains freedom as mixtures of ideals and that we all have the right to express them. We are all made with different personalities, dreams, and ways we view the world. To have freedom we have the right to have different values and live them freely. As long as it respects each person's right to live then we should all strive to live together in harmony. This is how I view freedom. We all have the right to express and live our ideals the way we see fit without fear of persecution and without persecuting those different than us. True freedom must still respect the life and dignity of others. For example, practice such as slavery and murder they violate human worth and basic human rights, so they cannot be justified in the name of freedom. Does that mean that I agree with every lifestyle I see people leading in the United States? No, but we all have freewill and the freedom to live it. You also have to once again respect each person's life, meaning no matter what you think, each person has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness each person has worth and is equal in worth. I thought a resonating sentence from Fonder was "while freedom can be achieved, it may also be taken away" (Fonder, pg.2).  This is the risk we face even today in America. We have to protect the rights of every life and the right to freely discuss these moral topics and political decisions America faces today without fearing their right to live being taken away.
