Problem: There is evidence of an increase in domestic violence among families with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. & Mrs. Jones became constantly engaged in fights, quarrels, and cuss-outs between them. Mrs. Jones is now afraid of her husband and has moved out of the matrimonial home. She does not want her husband to know of her new place of residence, neither to collect their son from the pre-school and has stated this information to you. In addition, the young boy has become sullen and uncooperative and has been displaying aggressive behaviors towards the other children.
As an early childhood practitioner:
1. How would you handle the situation? What would you say to Mr. Jones with regards to his request?
2. Clearly state how you will intervene in this situation by discussing your planned approach using steps firstly, secondly, etc.
3. Identify at least two agencies, which can be used to help this family. Clearly state why you would use the chosen agencies.
