Discuss ethical considerations for quantitative-qualitative

Assignment:

Part 1

Research Ethics

Case Assignment

Use the information provided in the readings to write a 3 to 5 page paper that discusses the ethical considerations for quantitative, qualitative, and action/evaluation research designs. Explain the purpose of an Institutional Review Board (IRB). In your own words, describe the steps of the IRB process at TUI and provide a summary of the components required in the IRB application at TUI. Reflect on your proposed TAD and discuss two steps in the IRB process that you had not yet considered or two components of the application that you had not yet considered. How will you address those steps or components?

Assignment Expectations

Your paper will be assessed on the following criteria:

Assignment-driven criteria: Demonstrates mastery covering all key elements of the assignment in a substantive way.

Scholarly writing: Demonstrates mastery and proficiency in scholarly written communication to an appropriately specialized audience.

Quality of references and organization: Demonstrates mastery using relevant and quality sources and uses appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to support ideas, convey understanding of the topic, and shape the work.

Citing sources: Demonstrates mastery using in-text citations or sources and properly uses APA format including a full reference list.

Critical thinking/Application to professional practice: Demonstrates mastery conceptualizing the problem, and viewpoints and assumptions of experts are analyzed, synthesized, and evaluated thoroughly. Part 2

Research Ethics

As you address the components of the mini-proposal outlined below, try to consider your audience as potential committee members for your TAD. Provide enough detail to indicate that you have given each step of the research process serious consideration. (You may build upon or refine the mini-research proposal you submitted in the EDD 605 Applied Research course, however, extensive changes and improvements must be made in order to receive credit for the assignment). Write a 3 to 5 page mini-proposal organized with the following headings:

• Title: provide a title for your proposal

• Rationale: clearly identify the topic, and provide the context for why this study is needed (include citations to the literature)

• Research Question(s): provide a draft of your research questions that are appropriate to your research design

• Methodology: discuss the research design (e.g. qualitative case study, quantitative survey, action/evaluation research), why the research design is appropriate, sources of data/ participants (address access and IRB), data collection procedures, data preparation procedures, data analysis procedures

• Significance: discuss how your research will contribute to the field of education/educational leadership

• Reference list
