Verbena Foods, a company that specializes in vegetarian food and beverages, with its main branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, is expanding its product line to cater for vegans. The company's primary target is youth between the ages of 25 and 37. Most of their stores are located in suburban areas, where young people of these ages mingle, dine and have fun. As part of the management team, you are expected to offer your expertise and knowledge in assessing whether or not this move will be successful.
Now that you have researched and examined the distribution strategy, you need to think about products offered by the company and how this line will add value to your existing product items and
lines.
Verbena Foods offers vegetarian, which include, vegetable-based burgers, schnitzels, viennas, stir fry, dairy products and various other products. Although the company does have vegan options, the are not primary products, which is why the company is expanding its product line.
Discuss each of these areas about Verbena Foods and evaluate how adding vegan products will add overall value to the company and the products it already has under its name:
