Discussion
The evolution of technology is evolving at a rapid pace as demonstrated by the growing power and efficiency of computers. Additionally, reliance on the internet has significantly increased and it is projected to further grow due to social media among other uses. The article to be reviewed is "Approaches to Text Simplification: Can Computer Technologies Outdo a Human Mind?" by Pervukhina et al. (2021). The purpose of the research was exploited to identify the level of expertise in text adaptation instigated by human and computers(Pervukhina et al., 2021).
Thoughthe result demonstrated that human approach to linguistics is still superior, it presented the researchers with the ethical limitations of using computers to simplify specialized text. With the research demonstrating the potential of text simplification and text summarization programs, they present ethical issues when used to present false information(Pervukhina et al., 2021). The researchers stated that specialized text is not suitable for all audiences as it is designed for professional use as it employs complex jargons. Though the proposed programs can simplify the text, it creates the potential of altering the meaning of the text resulting in misinformation among other threats. The purpose of the programs is to understand; however, the current information environment is too volatile for its effective exploitation.
