The topic is metabolism. Although metabolism can apply to areas outside of human nutrition and energy production, this case study uses the culturally-relevalant and popular Keto diet as a backdrop for one approach to studying metabolism. Specifically, this case study is framed as a discussion between biochemistry major and her boyfriend who is interested in trying the Keto diet. This case study considers metabolism in a relatable way as it ties together a variety of metabolism topics you can relates back to your own life. You will explore questions about basic cellular metabolism, ketones, and the overall health impacts of this popular diet as a fun way to delve further into our topic.
Read through the attached case study and answer the Three C's (explained below in Part A) and then answer the case study questions according to the instructions in Part B, below. This could be something that didn't settle well with you, a question you have for future research or consideration, or something you'd like to know more about. Connection: Why is the content in this case study important? How does it relate to the real world and/or why is this case study important? You could draw upon real world examples like something you read in the news recently, something from your favorite TV show, or any other form of connection between this case study and the importance of its content outside the classroom.
