Assignment:
Select three of the major topics covered throughout the course. Then, analyze the impact these topics can have on the administration of the law enforcement organization. The topics for analysis include:
Boston Police Strike of 1919
Budget considerations by labor and management
Communications and the media
Community opinions and support
Collective bargaining
Ethical considerations for police political involvement
History of police labor unions
Interest-based problem-solving method
Labor relations
Office politics
Pay, benefits, and pension trends
Police labor-management models
Police Unionization
Political endorsements
Politics and police administration
The Final Paper must identify the main issues within the selected areas of reference, depict the new learning that has occurred throughout the course, and relate specific, current, and/or relevant experiences from your past or current workplace and/or organization that demonstrate applicable learning and understanding. The emphasis of the Paper should be the expression of gained knowledge and learning.
The paper must be eight to ten pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least five scholarly resources (at least two from the Ashford Online Library) other than the textbook to support your claims and subclaims. Cite your resources in text and on the reference page. The Final Paper:
Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
Must include a title page with the following:
Title of paper
Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
Must use at least five scholarly resources, including a minimum of two from the Ashford Online Library.
Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
