Imagine you are a management consultant. Your client, an American multinational automotive company, plans to establish a new manufacturing factory overseas in the next five years for the production of electric vehicles. By leveraging the global business literature and concepts, you will produce a country risk report to assess the external business environment in a specific country. You need to choose one of the following countries: Poland, Malaysia, Vietnam and Brazil. You should address the main risks in doing business in this country. The lectures in this module will highlight many of the specific challenges, risks and opportunities of investing and operating in a foreign country, especially in emerging markets. Your report should reflect these issues.
You may consider the impact of the pandemic, but you are required to consider the business risks and environment under more normal circumstances.
Eemember that your coursework should focus on global business. It should be properly structured so that you have an introduction and conclusion. A suggested structure will be offered on the CANVAS. Furthermore, you must provide a references section and to acknowledge the sources that you have used in the report.
This report should be based on the guidelines as follow:
A. Political environment may include but not be limited to the following aspects: form of government, political stability, foreign policy, state companies, and terrorism.
B. Economic environment may include but not be limited to the following aspects: economic system, state of development, economic stability, GDP, international financial standing, monetary/fiscal policies and foreign investment.
C. Regulatory environment may include but not be limited to the following aspects: legal system, FDI regulations, protectionist law, tax laws, protection for proprietary property, environment protection.
D. Social/cultural environment may include but not be limited to the following aspects: social structure, language, education and religion.
E. Then you should discuss the benefits and challenges of your customer's decision of entry and investment in this country and provide some recommendations for them.
