Consider the following scenario: You are a plant foreperson at a highly-productive and competitive factory. Your manager approaches you with a concern about last month's productivity for the unit for which you are responsible. She tells you that productivity has markedly dropped off, and that the best way to solve this issue is to implement a new piece of automating technology currently being used by a competing factory.
You are in agreement with this, but you know your employees will be resistant to adopting this new technology. They will be concerned that this new technology will make some of them obsolete and ultimately cost them their jobs. How can you use human relations theory to convince your employees to adopt this new technology?
