Assignment:
Throughout this course, you have been learning about the Earth and processes that impact the formation of things like mountain ranges but also have created incredible geologic wonders like the Grand Canyon. As you have learned about geology, perhaps you have thought of these geologic wonders and tried to apply the concepts of geology as you think about how these wonders formed.
The list below includes geologic wonders found in the United States and across the world. Each of the locations is known for unique features that inspire wonder in those who have the opportunity to visit. Some of these geologic wonders, such as the Grand Canyon may be familiar to you, others, such as Pictured Rock National Lakeshore in Michigan's upper peninsula, may be less familiar. All are amazing.
For this assignment, you will select a geologic wonder that you would like to learn more about. You can then begin working on the presentation, which will be due in Workshop Four.
As you review the list, keep in mind the expectations for the presentation that you will prepare.
You may use PowerPoint or Google Slides to prepare your presentation. The presentation should be 10-12 slides in length and include the following sections:
1. Title Slide should include the following:
a. the name of the geological wonder
b. an image of the geological wonder
c. your name
2. The presentation body should include the following information:
a. The geological significance
b. At least one image of the whole geological wonder.
c. Images that demonstrate the unique features of this geological wonder
d. Location of the geological wonder
i. Include a map that designates where the geological wonder is located.
ii. If it is located in the USA, then the state and nearest city should be listed.
iii. If it is located outside of the USA, then the name of the country should be listed.
e. An explanation of how the geological wonder formed using terminology that you learned about in your text.
f. The material(s) that the geological wonder is made of.
g. A description of the processes that led to the formation of the geological wonder. These processes could include:
i. wind or water erosion
ii. volcanic activity
iii. weathering
iv. deposition
v. plate tectonics
h. When these processes are thought to have taken place.
i. How long it took for the geological wonder to form.
3. The final slide should include:
a. a list of at least three references in APA format (including y our Physical Geology text)
