Assignment:
You can write about a "Florida state" law, Amendment, or bill that you find interesting. Keep in mind that you cannot chose a "national" law or US Congressional law or a law from any other state.
In your paper
1. explain your Florida state law/amendment/bill in a summary. What is the topic?
2. Describe how the law/amendment/bill was passed or where it is in the legislative process.
3. Explain what political actors are/were in support or opposition to the law. For example are there interest groups, political parties, political leaders. etc, that either support or oppose the law/legislation.
4. Were there any "special" circumstances surrounding this law/legislation?
5. Finally, feel free to give your personal opinion of the law. Do you think it is good/bad? Why? Do you support either side? Why?
The 5 things listed should give you a "rough" guideline for your paper. Feel free to add any additional information that you find interesting or important about your law/initiative/bill.
Details: The written assignment should be at least 2000 words, not including titles and work cited. Also, you should have a minimum of 5 sources that represent a variety of perspective and types. Be sure that you do not use an encyclopedia and never cite wikipedia! Also you can use any citation format you like, just be consistent. Finally, you should reference your sources in the body of your paper with a footnote.
