Assignment:
1. Pretend that you were assigned a problem to resolve at work. You started with Five Why's, and realized that this is not enough. As such, you further analyzed the problem and discovered that there are multiple root causes. After that, you talked to your manager and told him/her that this is a complex problem. During the discussion, what analysis tool would you recommend? Why?
2. Have you, a co-worker, or boss ever been guilty of using one of the problem-solving traps noted in this week's resources? Share your experience. Also, discuss what you (or the person you know) should have done differently. If you are not able to think of an example, it is okay to discuss a recent company's poor decision based on a problem-solving trap. What should the company have done differently? Why?
