Directions:  Using the definition of molarity, the given balanced equations, and stoichiometry, solve the following problems.  Please submit your work via the link provided.

1. Sodium chloride solution and water react to produce sodium hydroxide and chlorine gas according to the following balanced equation:

2NaCl(aq)  + 2H20(l)  →  2Na0H(aq)  + Cl2(g)

a. How many liters of 3.2 M sodium chloride do you need in order to have 0.75 moles of chlorine gas?

b. Find the number of moles of water needed to produce 31.5 L of chlorine gas at STP.

c. If the sodium hydroxide has a concentration of 5.1 M, how many liters of it are produced from  4.0 moles of sodium chloride?

2. Cobalt III hydroxide and nitric acid react according to the following balanced equation:

Co(OH)3 (aq)    + 3 HNO3 (aq)  →  Co(NO3)3(aq)    + 3 H2O(l)

a. What mass of cobalt III hydroxide is needed to make 5.2 liters of a 0.42 M cobalt III hydroxide solution?

b. How many milliliters of 1.6 M nitric acid is needed to completely react with the amount of cobalt III hydroxide in Part 2a above?

c. Based on Parts 2a and 2b above, how many moles of water would be produced?

3. Barium chloride and silver nitrate react according to the following balanced equation:

2AgNO3(aq) + BaCl2(aq) →  2AgCl(s) + Ba(NO3)2(aq)

a. What mass of barium chloride is needed to make 5.0 liters of a 0.15 M barium chloride solution?

b. What mass of silver nitrate is needed to make 3.15 liters of a 0.05 M silver nitrate solution?

c. How many grams of silver chloride will be made when 0.025 liter of a 12.5 M barium chloride solution react with excess silver nitrate solution?

4. Magnesium metal is added to 15.7M hydrochloric acid and reacts according to the following balanced equation:

Mg(s)   + 2 HCl(aq)   →   MgCl2 (aq)   + H2(g)

a. What volume of 15.7 M hydrochloric acid will react with 2.1 grams of Mg?

b. What mass of magnesium will react with 8.5 liters of 0.7 M hydrochloric acid?

c. How many liters of hydrogen will you make (at STP) if you react 1.90 L of 0.030 M hydrochloric acid with excess magnesium?
