Many studies have indicated that members of racial and ethnic minorities are less satisfied with law enforcement and criminal justice services than members of majority populations. In addition, researchers have identified a correlation between individuals’ socioeconomic status and their perceptions of police and criminal justice (Collective & Jones, 2009). Individuals from poor backgrounds were not as satisfied with criminal justice services as their more affluent counterparts. These negative perceptions may indicate disparities in attitudes toward racial and ethnic minority offenders and differential treatment of these individuals within the criminal justice system.
