Difference in the radius of the earth

In 1671 Jean Richer transported some pendulum clocks from Paris, France to Cayenne in French Guiana. He found that the clocks ran slower in Cayenne than in Paris and realised that this was because the acceleration due to gravity in both places was different.

a) Acceleration of gravity at the equator is 9.78036m/s2 and at the poles 9.83208 m/s2. Work out a correction factor for pendulum clocks made at the equator and then shipped to the poles i.e. what is the time difference between what the clock reads and what it should read after one hour?

b) What percentage difference in the radius of the Earth does this change in acceleration represent?
