Spears and Lawrence state, Central to Servant-Leadership is power and its use and they illustrate this by using Greenleaf's discussion on the difference between persuasive and coercive power. The definition shared was that persuasive power creates opportunities and alternatives so individuals can choose and build autonomy. Where coercive power is used to get people to travel a predetermined path.
