The early years of European occupation of Texas is intricately entwined with Empire. Texas, although peripheral to many of the great empires' main area of occupation, came to be defined as the border between two great empires in North America. But how much did the imperial struggle between France, Spain and England define Texas? Does Texas have a strong sense of Imperialism like some of the other colonial heartlands like Mexico, The East Coast of the United States or the Canadian city of Quebec? Did Imperial occupation harm or help Texas in the long run? Do you see vestiges or remnants of imperialism in Texas still today?
