The senior management have asked you to join a project team to ensure that the Data Centres meet the business need whilst complying with the applicable regulations and standards.

The newly acquired Data Centres are some 7 years old and were apparently designed to have Tier III capability.
You have an independent on-site Facility Management Company in all locations.
1. What actions will you implement to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (which need to be stated)?
• Check the business strategy: the strategy should meet the business need of the organization.
• Create multi-disciplined team related to the new two DCs. The team should consist of personnel know how to deal with IT equipment and facility equipment and security.

• They should assess the new data centers and they can get information from commissioning documentation, Asset review, measurement and monitoring tools reports, audit reports, operational data, DR recovery plans.DCiM and BMS tools reports.
• Identifying the recent trends in power consumption and also compute and confirm unit costs for all utilities. This will help us to understand where we stand at the moment in terms of energy saving faculty.
• Evaluate utility supply options. This will help us to understand whether our facility is updated with the latest power saving technology or not.
• Review past improvement ideas that were considered but not implemented.
• legal department should be on board to confirm compliance with local regulations like carbon reduction, data related Acts.
• Present business case including available options of standards to adopt and be accredited with the (ISO 50001, which help to manage the use of energy, and ISO 14001 which help audit energy managements).
• Create an internal Auditing team or a assessment team including participants from key area of the facility and conduct internal audits every month.
• acquire the management approval and getting approved fund by explaining to them the ROI. (by explaining the benefits of the exercise that we are doing which will make our reputation better by complying with the ISO 50001 and ISO 14001)
• external auditor will assess the requirement and identify gaps and provide guidance to comply with standard.
• Develop the schedule for implementation.
• Create relevant KPIs to track the project progress and review it.
• Authorized entity to grant the certification after implementing all requirements.
2. What preparation path will you set out for obtaining accreditation for energy Best Practices (detailing their respective benefits)?
• understanding the shortcoming and identify the gaps from the audit reports.
• Apply the fixes and mitigation required to reach our target accreditation.
• As a result, we get the official tier III certification in addition to the compliance with ISO 50001 and 14001
