Assessment - Business Plan
Introduction - This assignment asks you, to develop, write up, and present, a business plan for a recently planned company that is expanding its innovative product range and needs access to venture capital to do so. Please read all instructions and requirements carefully.
Learning Outcome - This assignment allows you to demonstrate progresstowards achieving the following Learning Outcomes:
- Develop and present a detailed business plan for new engineering ventures, including; financial, supply chain, development team, marketing and production.
- Analyse the roles of engineers in creating productive, economic, successful venture in a variety of engineering projects.
- Demonstrate evidence of enhanced personal knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the management of engineering entrepreneurship
- Communication: using oral, written and interpersonal communication to inform, motivate and effect change
- Critical thinking: evaluating information using critical and analytical thinking and judgment
- Problem solving: creating solutions to authentic (real world and illdefined) problems
Task - Starting and building your own business can be overwhelming. And while many business owners cringe at the mere mention of drafting a business plan, it is a great exercise to get your business back on track and to plan for future growth. More specifically, it forces you to map out where you are now, where you need to go and most importantly how you plan to get there. You being an Engineer, interested in setting up your own business (Engineering oriented) and for this you were planning to develop a business plan meeting your business goals through financial and business planning strategies. During the process of your business planning and market research you identified that some of the potential investors were interested in Engineering oriented business and planning to invest in booming current market. To impress the investment community, you have decided to develop a winning business plan and provide fast access to much needed venture capital to create global market with substantial values to your business.
Task 1 - Develop and submit, a comprehensive Business Plan Report (team report) on Engineering oriented business that you are working with from the past few weeks...The total length of your team report is to be about 4500 words. Your report can be included with the following sections covering Management, Marketing and Finance details with clear justification and required analysis:
- Cover Sheet
- Executive Summary
- Strategy and purpose of the Business
- Market research/analysis
- Competitive marketing strategies
- Customer analysis
- Operation and staffing
- Financial plan, analysis and forecasting results
- Business ethics
- Business Controls
- Business sustainability
- All other supporting documents
Task 2 - You have to give a live presentation of your Business Plan (as developed in Task 1) to Company management along with a group of venture capitalists who have expressed an interest in helping your company to expand... So you better make it good!
- The 10-minute presentation will be followed by a Q/A session of 5 minute
- Team presentation of Business plan will be held in Week 11.
- Distance/cloud student teams need to submit power point slides of their "Eteam presentation" along with a narrative/commentary or vice over
Task 3 - Complete the Self and peer assessment on SPARK + . (Details to be communicated in coming weeks).
