Assignment:
Overview:
In this activity and the Week 6 assignment, you will develop a unit of study for a course on a topic of your choosing. This unit will consist of three lessons, each designed to engage and inspire your learners. To help you develop your skills as a versatile educator, first, you will design these three lessons using the same modality: face-to-face, online, or a hybrid mix of learning. Then, in Week 8, you are challenged to take your three-lesson unit and "flip it" to be formatted for an alternative modality. For example, if you design three lessons for a face-to-face class in the Week 4 activity and Week 6 assignment, you could reconfigure the lessons so they are designed to be taught online for the Week 8 assignment.
Your task for this week's activity is to define the basic content of your three-lesson unit, describe your intended audience, choose your first modality, and outline the unit outcomes. This foundation helps you develop ideas that you will build on in the Week 6 assignment.
By the end of the course, you will have the skills and knowledge to design effective learning units adaptable to different modalities, making you a more versatile and effective educator.
Instructions:
For this activity, develop a unit plan consisting of three lessons on a topic of your choosing. Your unit plan should be developed in two parts:
Part 1: Unit Outcomes
- In a bullet-pointed list, outline between 3 and 5 specific, measurable outcomes for your three-lesson unit. To review how to develop outcomes:
- Think about what you want your students to achieve by the end of the unit.
- Make sure your outcomes are specific and measurable.
- Consider using action verbs to clearly articulate what you want your students to know and be able to do.
- Consider ensuring that the outcomes of the unit build upon each other in a logical and coherent manner and that they are appropriately sequenced to support student learning and mastery. Need Assignment Help?
Part 2: Unit Plan
In a 1-2-page paper, expand upon your unit outcomes and develop three lesson plan outlines for a specific modality and intended audience that integrates learning theories. Please include the following:
- Provide a descriptive and engaging title for your unit.
- Choose a topic for your unit.
- Describe the content that is covered in the three lessons.
- Indicate which modality (face-to-face, online, or hybrid) is used to deliver your unit.
- Describe your intended audience, including grade level or corporate field.
- Explain how to ensure that your unit is accessible to all learners and how to accommodate any unique needs that your students may have.
