Develop a strong thesis statement for next week's essay about the significance of current social conflicts. They are significant because of the social, political, economic, or technological effects they have. In this essay, you will take a position on one of those conflicts and justify it according to the effects it will have.
Again, explore the list of Controversial Topics at The Best Schools web site. Choose one of the social conflicts that interest you and read not only the section on that page of the web site but also the linked articles. A few of them are in the text and three are under Further Reading.
a strong thesis statement needs only two parts. In the first part, assert your position about something you feel strongly or passionately about. In the next part, preview the effects that you will explain to support your position. Each of the effects you preview will become a body section of your essay.
The pattern for your thesis statement: A is B because C, D, and E. Depending on how you phrase it, this thesis statement could be one sentence or two sentences. The examples below are all one sentence. However, the C, D, and E part could be in a sentence of its own.
Examples:
1) Unrestricted movement of workers across all national boundaries is the best (or worst) thing that could happen to the world economy because C, D, and E.
2) Mandating vaccinations for all Americans is the best (or worst) thing that could happen for life in the U.S. because C, D, and E.
3) Recognizing that animals deserve similar or equal rights as humans is the best (or worst) thing that could happen to human nutrition because C, D, and E.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
(1) The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
(2) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
(3) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
