RESEARCH PROJECT
Students will develop a qualitative research proposal, outlining and defending the research design, and preparing an appropriate research instrument.
They will describe the topic of the research, literature review of the topic, questions they will use in their interviews or observations, type of instrument to be used, where and how data will be collected, and type of statistical analysis that would be recommended if the proposal was implemented.
Students will discuss possible ethical issues in obtaining data through the interview, survey, or observation process. They will orally present these projects near the end of the term. A presentation date will be given by the instructor.
When developing the research proposal consider an investigation which impacts upon a population at risk considering culture, race, gender, age, income levels, disability, or sexuai orientation.
Students will not implement these research proposals since any investigations involving human subjects would need to be reviewed by the Saint Leo University's Institutional Review Board. Instead, students will go through the steps of developing the research process.
An oral presentation of the proposal will be given : in class and may involve a PowerPoint presentation. Students may not use the same egr research proposal which was designed for, Methods of Social Research: Quantitative Research.
