Problem
You are the director of a sports and recreation center in a midsized suburban city. A member of the city council has approached you with a new vision for sport in the community. The new vision includes developing a new outdoor sports facility that includes softball and baseball fields, soccer fields, hike and bike trails, basketball and tennis courts, and an outdoor swimming pool. There are a number of objectives the city council hopes to meet with this new sport. First, the community leaders want to provide more access and opportunity for sports for children, adults, and seniors in the community. The council wants active leagues for all ages for the sports that could be offered in the new facility. Second, the council wants to attract visitors to the community by using the space for competition and tournament play. Finally, when the facility is not in use by the events and/or league play or practice, the space is to be open for general public use to support the council's efforts in creating and sustaining a healthy and active community. The city council member has tasked you with the following to determine the feasibility of such a project:
i. Research the available lots for sale within the community to determine if there is a site with the acreage to develop the outdoor sports facility.
ii. Once a few sites have been determined, begin to develop a pro forma to detail the costs to build such a facility.
