Determining the rotational inertia of the cylinder


A uniform cylinder having radius R and mass M is mounted so as to rotate freely about the horizontal axis which is parallel to, and a distance h from the central longitudinal axis of the cylinder. (i) Determine the rotational inertia of the cylinder about the axis of the rotation? (ii) When the cylinder is free from rest with its central longitudinal axis at the similar height as the axis about which the cylinder rotates, determine the angular speed of the cylinder as it passes through the lowest position? Describe your answers in terms of the given variables, by using g if appropriate.
