Determining the poverty line

Problem: A person or community is considered to be in poverty if they do not have the financial resources and necessities necessary to maintain a minimum standard of living. A person is in poverty if their income from work is so low that they cannot meet their basic needs. Families and individuals living in poverty may go without adequate housing, safe drinking water, nutritious food, or medical care. Each nation may have its own criteria for determining the poverty line and counting the number of people living in poverty.
