Within the diverse area of evolutionary principles in biology is the Age of the Earth. Taking into account what you have learned throughout this term as well as what is being presented in Module with regard to the impact the environment has on a species and its ability to adapt and change over time in order to live and reproduce develop a response to this Taking Sides discussion.

There are many methods that have been used throughout history to measure the age of the Earth. Lord Kelvin used thermodynamics. Clair Cameron Patterson sought to use lead in zircon crystals in a meteorite, and ended up discovering widespread lead pollution from leaded fuels in his quest for calculating the age of the Earth!

How reliable would a method based on evolutionary histories be in determining the age of the Earth?
