Determining required transmitter power

Assignment:

A hand-held direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) radio is part of a cellular CDMA system. The system specifications are as follows: data and SS-code modulation is BPSK, data rate is 8,000 bits/s, carrier frequency is 1 GHz. chip rate is 25 Mchips/s, worst-case path loss is 138.6 dB, gain of transmitting antenna is 5 dBI, receiver figure-of-merit G/T is -18 dB/K, occasional deep small-scale fading loss is 30 dB, other losses are 4 dB, required Eb/N0 is 4 dB. The factors GA, Gv, 14, and nt are 2.5, 2.5, 1.6, and 1, respectively. Hint: Refer to Chapter 5 for treatment of link parameters.

(a) Find the required transmitter power P, during deep small-scale fading.

(b) To what level can P, be powered down when there is no small-scale fading?

(c) What is the minimum required Eb/N0 to meet the specifications?

(d) What is the processing gain?

(e) What is the maximum number of users per cell?

Provide complete and step by step solution for the question and show calculations and use formulas.
