Determining proper housing-moving life-threatening challenge

Assignment:

Scenario - My uncle is 74 and has recently sold his business. He is in good health and is looking forward to doing projects around his home. He and his wife made this very easy for me as they've exhaustively researched the best housing situation for them. They've decided for the time being that the best thing for them is to remain in their home. They are mobile and have minimal health problems. My uncle's wife loves her four dogs and wants to be able to keep them. While the home is large, everything they need is on the main level, including their bedroom. They've renovated their bathroom to make it more accessible as they age. They recognize that as they age, they may have to make different decisions in regards to housing. Through various means, but most significantly through the sale of my uncle's business, they have very solid retirement savings.

One of the largest challenges that will present itself for the elderly is where will they live? how will it be financed? what type of care (if any) will they need? This can be cause for great anxiety for the aged themselves as well as for family. Determining proper housing and moving to it is a major, life-threatening challenge. It is best to explore possibilities and plan ahead with the elder person (if cognitively able) based upon the likelihood of their mental and physical health, including family history. The goal is to avoid the feeling of vulnerability and burden the dependency ratio statistics can lead us to believe while providing as high a quality of life possible with the resources available.

USING THE CHART BELOW, select three (3) options for a family member or friend, age 65+, then bold the option which you feel is the best choice. In a following scenario, indicate how that choice was made, by whom and any other pertinent information. Follow with your references (literature, interview, phone, brochure, visit, etc.)
